A familiar sight at Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa: for the reopening of the grand hotel in Baden-Baden, the design classic Madison shines in new splendour. This was made possible with Dornbracht ReCrafted: the hotel's 30-year-old original fittings were removed, refurbished by craftsmen at the factory in Germany – and given a new lease of life.
Grand hotel in new splendour
Belle Époque atmosphere in Baden-Baden: Opened in 1872, Brenners has been one of the most prestigious and exclusive hotels in the world for many decades. Nestled in the green Lichtentaler avenue, it combines classic elegance with Art Nouveau elements. Marble floors, high ceilings, and detailed stucco decorations tell of a long and glorious history, while artfully restored salons combine tradition with modern luxury. After a two-year renovation phase, the 5-star hotel reopened in October 2025. The focus of the renovation was on conserving resources: among other things, numerous pieces of historic furniture and wallpaper were upcycled, and building technology that meets the highest ecological standards was installed.
Reconditioned fittings
The bathrooms, which feature Dornbracht ReCrafted fittings, also reflect this concept: the opulent Madison design series has been an integral part of the rooms and suites for over 30 years. As part of the renovation work, the fittings with their nostalgic Art Deco look were carefully removed and transported to the factory in Iserlohn, where they underwent detailed, handcrafted remanufacturing. At the end of the multi-stage process, during which the originals were given new finishes and functional parts, among other things, they were reinstalled. Now Dornbracht's grande dame offers a surprisingly familiar sight in the bathrooms – and tells its very own story.
“The past 30 years have proven that a design icon like Madison and the Brenners belong together”, says Stephan Bösch, Managing Director of the Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa. “We are all the more delighted that we were able to preserve the existing fittings. This not only protects the environment, but also perfectly reflects our holistic approach to sustainability.”
A bridge between history and the future
Dornbracht ReCrafted saves around 40 per cent of CO2 emissions per refurbished fitting compared to a new product. This avoids unnecessary material waste. “The ReCrafted project at Brenners not only shows how timeless the design and how high-quality the materials of our fittings are”, says Caroline Schmitt, General Management Dornbracht. “The reuse of the originals also makes a considerable contribution to the hotel's sustainability efforts. Our Madison thus builds a bridge between the rich history and the future of the hotel.”
