At the edge of that which can be represented.

Teresa Margolles deals with death. Or better put: with the dead. Her point of departure is her work as a forensic assistant at a morgue in Mexico City. The dead she encountered there that her artwork deals with were victims of violence, drug related deaths, traffic deaths and unidentified corpses. Usually young, sometimes children. "The social and economic conditions of a society can be read in particularly biting form from the dead who fill up the mortuaries of the metropolis day by day", Margolles says. Muerte sin fin was presented in 2004 at the MMK (Museum of Modern Art) in Frankfurt with the support of Dornbracht Culture Projects. It was the first large worldwide individual exhibition by the Mexican artist.
