An Enduring Aesthetic: Dornbracht Fittings Combine Tradition and Innovation

Iserlohn

Dornbracht stands for timeless design and sustainable aesthetics. The Tara, Madison and Meta.02 fittings series in particular are examples of a succinct and elegant design type that sets standards and is always up to date. Tara has long been a modern classic and now - 20 years after it was launched on the market - it is one of the best-selling Dornbracht fittings.

Durability is just one component that reveals something about the quality of a product. But design that stands the test of time, as in those developed by Dornbracht, also benefits from the careful development of characteristic forms.

In 2008, Dornbracht joined forces with Sieger Design to develop a new, contemporary interpretation of Tara. "You don't change a classic", explained Michael Sieger, of Sieger Design. "You refine it." The result of the collaboration is a refinement of details that make the perfect geometry and symmetry of the clear-cut design language even more apparent. The product family also includes Tara Classic, supplemented by the slimmer,  proudly poised form of Tara Logic. There is also Tara Ultra, which was developed specifically for kitchen use.

Madison has been part of the product program for 35 years, combining nostalgic charm with functional elements. With Hot and Cold valves, Madison is reminiscent of historic fittings from the early twentieth century. With elegant, white porcelain-accented cross-handles, Madison is a stylized study of the fittings from the turn of the last century. In the Madison Flair version with simple lever handles, historical references give way to a more contemporary form. In each instance, the result is timeless elegance.

The level of aesthetic sustainability and design expertise is just as high in Meta.02. But unlike Madison, its distinguishing features are a consistent reduction in geometric form, the use of materials and the size of the fitting.

In a rapidly changing world, where issues like the consumption of water, a scarce resource, are becoming increasingly important, sustainability is not just about preserving external forms; it is also about permanently rethinking production processes. Dornbracht's newly developed, modular electroplating system is able to coat complex geometric shapes without difficulty. The modular nature of the technology allows the company to respond more quickly to customer requirements and to integrate new technical innovations into the process simply by replacing individual units.

The basic design values of succinctness and progressiveness make Dornbracht fittings instantly recognizable. Proportion and precision also play a part in making the characteristic design memorable. But the basis of Dornbracht's success in product sustainability is not just the archetypal shapes - it also involves continuously working on the products.
