The Museum as a Home Depot.

Rudolf Stingel transformed the large triangular hall of the MMK (Museum of Modern Art) in Frankfurt into a brilliant "parlor with decor" and thus produced an explosive contrast to the appearance of the modern museum as a "White Cube". A polemical and visual commentary within the context of the Dornbracht Installation Projects. With the title of the installation "Home Depot", the artist also references the American building supply giant of the same name, the offerings of which are for Stingel an art matrix for the production and the implementation of ideas. By making additional use of images from the depot of the MMK in his project space, the artist questioned his own work on the one hand and on the other hand reflected possible interfaces between warehouses and image depots.
