The body of the artist as artwork.

Into me / Out of me represents a search for traces through performance art since the 1960s. At that time, many artists began using their own bodies as the subject and object of their artistic endeavors, often entailing radical acts that pushed the limits of physicality and tastefulness.
Into me / Out of me, supported by Dornbracht Culture Projects, came about through cooperation with P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center and the KW Institute for Contemporary Art. The curator was Klaus Biesenbach.
The exhibition was opened at P.S.1 in New York in the summer of 2006, traveled from there to the KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin in November of 2006 and was then at the Macro Museo d'Arte Contemporanea in Rome from April to September 2007.
