Open to unconventional design approaches: The new design series Coya from Dornbracht is particularly well-suited as bespoke tap solutions, for example in combination with exclusive inlays integrated into the handles. The artistic and creative collaboration with the Argentine brand Konqrit demonstrates what this can look like.
An original creative experiment
A bridge between geometries: Coya by Dornbracht combines the circle and square, thus uniting apparent opposites. Neither round nor angular, the hybrid design language of the new tap range blurs existing boundaries and creates soft, flowing transitions. The striking handle design provides a canvas for original creative expression. One example of this is the collaboration with Konqrit. The company, based in Escobar near Buenos Aires, regularly commissions artists to create bespoke graphic designs for its high-quality sanitaryware made from fibre-glass reinforced concrete. This is a principle that is now also being applied to Coya: artistically decorated inlays, seamlessly integrated into the tap handles, create harmonious ensembles with Konqrit’s hand-painted washbasins and bathtubs.
Unique designs featuring stylised floral motifs
The artistic process behind the project was on display at the Dornbracht showroom during Milan Design Week: during a live performance, artist Catalina Ruiz painted handle inlays for Coya, alongside washbasins from Konqrit. The result was a series of unique design pieces featuring floral motifs inspired by the flora of Argentina. Konqrit founder Cecilia García Galofre sees this kind of live performance as the perfect way to express true individualisation: “There’s something magical about experiencing in real time how an everyday object is transformed into a work of art.”
Made possible through Dornbracht Atelier
It is thanks to Dornbracht Atelier that this extraordinary collaboration with Konqrit is possible. Launched in 2025, this business segment of the long-established company opens almost limitless creative possibilities and provides the freedom to turn even the most ambitious design visions into reality. This applies not only to shapes and finishes, but also to special material requests such as gemstones, leather, or shell limestone. The spectrum ranges from adapting an existing series such as Coya to creating entirely original designs. For the one-off pieces, which are manufactured at the workshop in Iserlohn or in collaboration with specialist partners, Dornbracht draws on over 75 years of experience in bespoke creation – always with the aim of realising personal visions to the highest standards of craftsmanship.
