Mass mobility, data networks and monetary transactions.

The individual and societal masses are the two poles in the work of Thomas Bayrle. Numerous trips to Japan and China have left a lasting impression on his work. The totalitarian structures of the parade of the masses, the inundation of the consumer market with industrial products: Attraction and aversion are reflected in equal measure in Bayrle's work. With the support of the Dornbracht Installation Project, possession of Bayrle's "Turm (Tower) and Autobahn", a cooperative project with the architects Nikolaus Hirsch und Michel Müller, was transferred to the MMK (Museum of Modern Art) in Frankfurt. The autobahn, a symbol for mass mobility and the flow of traffic in general, reflects the lack of boarders of global data networks and worldwide monetary transactions.
