Colours influence how we feel: they can calm and relax us or invigorate and stimulate us. Especially in the bathroom, where personal well-being is particularly important, it is worth choosing your colour scheme consciously. Manufacturer Dornbracht knows why fittings play an important role in this.
Colour is key
Psychology has long been involved with the question of how colours affect our mood. In 2025, the study “Do we feel colours” (Psychonomic Bulletin & Review) once again proved that people associate certain colours with emotions. This is why modern bathroom architecture has long been characterised by unusual, sophisticated colour palettes: “It is crucial to make the right use of colours in a bathroom design,” says Caroline Schmitt, General Management Dornbracht. Organic tones such as sand and terracotta, or shades of green and pastel pink, for example, create a sense of relaxation and balance. Earthy burgundy creates a feeling of security, while cool blue evokes emotions of the vastness of the sea and sky. Those who want to recharge their batteries can opt for a bold red tone. Yellow and orange also invigorate the senses and lend bathrooms an unexpected freshness.
Fittings as part of the colour scheme
“A well-thought-out colour concept in the bathroom does not end with the wall or tile colour. It continues in numerous fine details such as towel rails and lights, mirror frames, and accessories. The focus is particularly on the fittings at the washbasin, bathtub, or shower,” says Schmitt. With a wide selection of curated finishes, the Dornbracht design series offer numerous possibilities for creating subtle nuances or clever contrasts. They thus become an essential part of the colour scheme and help to make the bathroom what it should be: a place of absolute well-being.
